SUMMARYResponsibility for efficient handling and hydrating of fly ash delivered from the power plant. Takes samples of raw materials for analysis. Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Operates heavy equipment with blades, winches, and buckets to load, push, or transport ash. Prepares and maintains vehicles records and reports. Assist in maintaining an adequate spare parts inventory for equipment. Maintains and protects all property in excellent condition. Performs daily, weekly and monthly housekeeping tasks to ensure work area is clean and safe.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES- Efficient handling and hydrating of fly ash delivered to the ash pit in order to maintain compliance within state, federal and local environmental guidelines.- Take samples of raw materials for analysis.- Maintain compliance with current operating procedures.- Process work orders and maintenance actions on water trucks and equipment.- Perform minimal vehicle maintenance.- Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.- Prepare and maintain vehicle records and reports.- Perform required; before, during, and after-operation "user maintenance" and provide required reports.- Maintain and protect all company property in excellent condition.- Abide by all plant operating procedures.- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety and housekeeping rules.- Assist in maintaining an adequate spare parts inventory for equipment.- Any other responsibilities as assigned by management.APTITUDES- Must have the ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times.- Must possess high degree of mechanical and process aptitude and ability to use algebra, geometry or shop math.- Ability to interpret instruction and use logic to solve concrete problems, write reports with proper grammar, and communicate in English with co-workers and the public.- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.PHYSICAL DEMANDSHeavy lifting - may require lifting up to 70 pounds with frequent lifting of objects up to 50 pounds. Required to climb ladders and stairs, and work on scaffolding. Must be able to work at heights. Frequently bends, stoops, and lifts heavy objects. Must be able to work varying shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime.WORK ENVIRONMENTIndoors/outdoors. Extreme cold and high ambient air conditions can exist. Requires prolonged sitting and driving. Exposure to mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, radiant heat, toxic chemicals, and fumes and dust from limestone/coal/coke/boiler ash distribution. Certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment, as well as mandatory hard hats, safety glasses, and hearing protection for long periods.HIRING PRACTICES- This is an entry-level position. Most skills are learned through training on-the-job.- Working knowledge of general vehicle maintenance.- Will usually work four (4) 10-hour day shifts. Overtime is available.- Normal duty station is in Warren, MT.
