American Express Technical Project Manager in Helena, Montana

The Vendor Midrange and Storage Operations team is part of Converged Infrastructure Operations and provides management of American Express’ enterprise vendor infrastructure operations. This team manages vendors that provide server and storage infrastructure throughout the delivery lifecycle for multiple hosting environments. The Technical Project Manager will provide day to day operational and technical leadership for midrange infrastructure operations.
Responsibilities: Technical Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Plans, assigns and manages efficient usage of Infrastructure resources and technical solutions for the duration of the development life cycle, across multiple development groups

  • Delivers ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) compliance process conformance for operational processes

  • Monitors, controls and reports expenditure throughout the development life cycle

  • Partner with service provider to deliver, support, and maintain midrange and storage solutions

  • Design and manage complex global infrastructure/application migrations

  • Manage programs projects related to vendor operations, i.e. system currency programs

  • Monitors problem, change and incident queues, enforcing compliance with capability, root cause analysis and change quality targets

  • Drive delivery of administration and configuration including provisioning and de-provisioning of physical/virtual infrastructure

  • Manage capacity, performance and availability of enterprise solutions including active system monitoring and management

  • Lead infrastructure issue resolution support including problem analysis and development of problem circumvention solutions

  • Manage deployment and validation of system changes including scheduled and emergency maintenance and upgrades to infrastructure

  • Manage operational readiness testing of new and changed infrastructure

  • Ensure infrastructure is managed and operated in accordance to AXP policies and standards including Security compliance

  • Lead complex infrastructure issue resolution support including problem analysis and development of problem circumvention solutions. Actively drive corrective actions and prioritize necessary enterprise-wide infrastructure uplifts and process enhancements necessary to improve infrastructure availability

  • Ensure infrastructure is managed and operated in accordance with AXP policies and standards including Security compliance

  • Utilize and define midrange operational processes and best practices – ensure all processes are clear and auditable

  • Maintain strong working relationships across organizations, vendor partners, and internal customers

  • 5 years proven experience managing technical midrange infrastructure, development projects or troubleshooting of technology issues

  • 3 years proven experience with tools to manage and support midrange infrastructure operations

  • 5 years project/program management with contract administration responsibilities

  • Self-motivated with strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are key attributes for this position

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, schedule, and meet deadlines (work under pressure, be flexible, and prioritize tasks)

  • Additional qualifications desired (by not required) include SQL database administration, SharePoint development, Microsoft Azure, EMC storage, audit and compliance

  • Bachelors in Computer Science/Management Information Systems or equivalent experience preferred
