This position is a Supervisory Clinical Nurse Inpatient, located within the Crow/Northern Cheyenne Service Unit, Crow Agency MT. This position reports to the Supervisory Clinical Nurse, Director of Nursing.

Duties

Provide direct supervision and guidance to subordinate staff assigned to the Inpatient Nursing Department, assign work schedule, coordinate with other departments for adequate coverage. Evaluate nursing care by reviewing nursing assignments, patient classification, patient care hours, nursing care plans, discharge plans, patient charts, audits, and ensures processes are established to assure quality patient care. Actively participate in nursing leadership and hospital leadership activities and initiatives related to the overall Mission, Vision, Goals and Values of the facility and Nursing Department. Conduct area specific nursing staff meetings on a regular basis, participate in and plan meetings, in-service programs, patient and family teaching, maintain record of each.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. Registration: Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. An applicant who has graduated from an approved nursing educational program within the past 12 months may be appointed pending State registration as a professional nurse within 6 months of appointment. No person appointed pending registration may be retained beyond 6 months, or promoted, if registration has not been attained. The following shows the amounts of education and/or experience required to qualify for this position: GS-11: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level OR completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable. Specialized Experience: For the GS-11 level, you must have one year of experience (equivalent to the GS-09 that includes duties such as develop and assign work staff schedules. Conduct and participate in nursing meetings and maintains records of in-service programs, patient and family teaching. Orientate new staff members. Provide individual nurse counseling, performance appraisal evaluation, initiate and recommend personnel actions, etc.. Knowledge of specific nursing care, principles, practices and procedures to assess patients' physical, emotional, spiritual and socio-culture needs. Comprehensive knowledge of current accreditation standard requirements. Demonstrated leadership ability. Ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms in the care of patients of all ages and react in accordance to emergency situations. Knowledge of pharmaceuticals and the desired effects. Skill in operation of specialized equipment used in the care of critically ill patients, i.e., cardiac monitors, ventilators, defibrillators, infusion pumps, suction machines, oxygen devices, pulse oximeter, etc. Responsible for furthering the goals of equal employment opportunity (EEO).
